# Quickstart: turn an issue into a pull request

> Mention devlo on a GitHub issue, Jira ticket, or Slack thread, approve its plan if it posts one, and review the pull request it opens.

Describe a change, mention devlo, and get a pull request back.

**Before you begin:** [connect GitHub](/get-started/connect-github/). To start from a GitHub issue, you need write access to the repository. To start from Jira or Slack, an owner or admin connects it first under **Settings > Integrations**.

1. Describe a small, well-defined change and mention devlo.

   * GitHub issue

     Mention `@devloai`, in lowercase, in a new issue’s description or in a comment.

     J

     **jane**opened this issue

     Add a `/health` endpoint that returns `{"status":"ok"}`. @devloai

   * Jira

     Mention `@Devlo` and name the repository with `repo:<name>`. See [Jira](/coding/jira/).

     J

     **jane**

     @Devlo repo:api add a `/health` endpoint that returns `{"status":"ok"}`

   * Slack

     Mention `@devlo` in a channel or direct message. See [Slack](/coding/slack/).

     J

     **jane**

     @devlo add a `/health` endpoint to acme/api that returns `{"status":"ok"}`

2. devlo acknowledges the request and posts a status that it updates as it works. For non-trivial work, it may post a plan first. To approve, mention devlo again with `go ahead`, or say what to change.

3. devlo creates a branch, makes the change, runs checks, and opens a pull request. It links the pull request in its reply.

4. Review and merge the pull request; devlo never merges. To ask for changes, comment on it with `@devloai`; devlo pushes to the same pull request. See [Pull requests](/coding/pull-requests/).

Each run uses [credits](/account/plans/).

Prefer a chat? Start one on the repository [in the devlo app](/coding/devlo-app/) and describe the same change there.
