# Quickstart: build and publish an app

> Describe an app in a chat, watch devlo build it in a preview, and publish it to a devlo.app address.

Describe an app in a chat. devlo builds it, shows a preview, and publishes it when you’re ready. You don’t need GitHub for this.

**Before you begin:** every plan can build and preview; publishing needs a paid plan. Most plans limit how many projects you can have, and repository chats you own count toward it. See [Plans and credits](/account/plans/#plans).

1. Sign in at [devlo.ai](https://devlo.ai/login).

2. On **Home**, select **New app**, then **New chat**.

3. Describe the app, for example “a landing page for a coffee shop with a menu and a contact form”.

4. devlo builds the app, and the preview next to the chat updates as it works.

5. Send messages to change the app, for example “make the header sticky”. Each message uses credits.

6. Select **Publish**, then **Confirm publish**. Paid plans

Your app is live at `https://<project-id>.devlo.app`. To ship later changes, select **Publish** again; the address stays the same. The project stays under **Projects**.
