# Export to GitHub

> Copy a devlo project into a new private GitHub repository. Requires a paid plan.

Paid plans

Export copies your project’s code into a new private GitHub repository.

## Export a project

Select the GitHub icon (**Export**) next to **Publish**. It works while the project is awake.

Use a temporary token and keep the repository

Give the token a short expiry and delete it after the export. Don’t delete the repository afterwards. If you do, you lose access to the project.

1. **Connect organization:** pick the GitHub account or organization for the new repository, then select **Continue**.
2. **Create Repository:** enter a name and a fine-grained personal access token with the settings the dialog lists, then select **Create**.
3. **Sync:** select **Sync** so devlo can reach the repository. If it can’t, select **Connect installation**, then **Sync** again.

Your code is on the default branch. devlo pushes later changes to its own branch; ask devlo in chat to open a pull request when you want to merge them.
