# Chat controls

> Stop and redirect devlo in a project or repository chat, switch models, edit your last message, and restore a checkpoint.

Stop and redirect devlo while it works, edit your last message, and restore earlier versions. These controls work the same in projects and [repository chats](/coding/devlo-app/).

## Stop or redirect

* To stop devlo, select the stop button in the prompt box.
* Send a new message while devlo works to interrupt it and start a new turn.
* Switch models at any time in the model picker. **Auto** is recommended; more `$` marks use more credits.

If you reload the page or lose the connection, devlo picks the running turn back up.

## Edit your last message

Only your newest message can be edited. Select it or its pencil, change the text, and send it.

If devlo changed code in its answer, it asks whether to roll that code back too.

## Restore a checkpoint

Open a message’s **…** menu and select **Restore checkpoint**. Your files go back to how they were before that message; the chat history stays.

In a repository chat, or a project you’ve exported to GitHub, restoring also resets devlo’s branch on GitHub. So does rolling back code when you edit a message. See [Code in the devlo app](/coding/devlo-app/#open-a-pull-request).
